Summary of Contracted
Pharmacy Services
Provided to Health Centers
- Set up (on-line)
purchasing account on behalf of Health Center with a 340B
wholesaler/prime vendor.
- Purchase, receive,
inventory and prepackage (where necessary1) all
compounds on Health Center’s formulary, in unit-of-use,
tamper-proof and pre-labeled2 vials.
- Transport, stock and
maintain ongoing drug inventories for Health Center delivery sites
through CCN’s automated (on-line) replenishment system.
- Set up and maintain
contracts with all Health Center third-party payors (and/or Pharmacy
Benefit Managers) for on-line Drug Utilization Review (DUR) and claims
adjudication.
- Provide, set up,
maintain and monitor HIPAA compliant on-line connectivity (DSL or
equal) including routing and switching services, for DUR and real-time
claims adjudication at all Health Center delivery sites.
- Provide and maintain
all hardware, software and equipment necessary to operate physician
dispensaries at all Health Center delivery sites, including locking
drug cabinets, labeled product bins, computer stands, terminals,
keyboards, bar code readers, printers, labels, routers and software
licenses.
- Provide licensed
pharmacist support services for all Health Center practitioners and
patients during Health Center’s regular hours of operation
and after hours with on-call support.
- Set up and maintain
lock-box account with local bank to receive and reconcile all
third-party reimbursements, on behalf of Health Center.
- Provide all regulatory,
financial and operational reporting, audit and tracking services, as
required by the Office of Pharmacy Affairs, the Food and Drug
Administration, the Internal Revenue Service, the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania and Health Center.
- Manage, reconcile and
provide monthly reporting for all accounts payable and accounts
receivable functions, on behalf of and exclusive to the Health Center
340B Physician Dispensing and Mail Order Program, in aggregate and for
each Health Center delivery site.
- Provide comprehensive
refill services, including local delivery and mail order operations,
patient reminders and disease management support, as requested by
Health Center practitioners.
- Provide other services
as may be required either by Health Center or the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the
program.
1Approximately
50% of the current inventory is available from the wholesaler in
unit-of-use quantities and therefore does not need to be prepackaged.
2Labels
include contracted pharmacy name; quantity; compound name and strength;
dosage form; NDC number; manufacturer name, expiration and lot number;
date prepackaged with expiration date; and bar code for quality
assurance.
